Vons chili...

A few days ago, I ran into a Vons, which was quite confusing since they selling Safeway products in their store. I grabbed a few things for my wife, but knowing my wife's diet, I knew that the possibility of me being hungry was pretty big, so I started to peruse. Me, being the soup guy I am, went to the little soup bar, but with no luck.

Not my picture (Thanks google images!)

They did have the plastic take home soups though...

Hmm...

What's this I spy?

Chili...

Hmm...I wonder if this is any good?

I did not intend to blog about this chili, but here I am, completely satisfied with the perfect blend of steak and beans...Not ground beef, but actual steak...

That is all...

Seriously...That's it...

The chili was so good that it has it's own blog by ProFatKid...Google images needs an image...Seriously...

Holdren's, Tron and TGIF... Another messed up birthday in the books...

I am ProFatKid...

I am capable of eating tremendous amounts of food...

How is it that I was not able to put down a plate of ribs from this place? Mind you, it was ALL YOU CAN EAT RIBS for $20...To be answered soon.

The wife and I are staying at a near by extended stay because our house blew up. After passing by this place for 3 weeks straight, we decided to make a night of her birthday and take her to this steak and seafood place in Newbury Park called Holdren's... Apparently this place has a huge following since it's a copy of a much more renowned Holdren's up in Santa Barbara known for their wine and meat.

We get there kinda early since we're trying to see Tron later in the evening. We get into our booth with my wife's sister and glaze over the menu...A lot of promise. A date night menu?  Cajun calamari?  Appetizers look great, but they had me at $20 all you can eat ribs.  Me being HUNGRY ordered the all you can eat ribs for $20.  It even came with a salad and a side.

Classy...My hungry sister in law decided to order the same thing, but my wife, considering it's her birthday, ordered a medium10 oz filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes.

My wedge salad isn't something to write home about, but they did use a lot bleu cheese crumples, which I like a lot.  The ranch was ehhhh...On to the ribs...

They weren't hot...It's like the ribs were left out or precooked or something because the food wasn't even warm. I started to eat since I'm starving, but only get through about 3 ribs before I have to send it back.  By the time I got the waitress, my food was cold with about a third of the ribs eaten...My sister in law can't even eat half of hers and wants hers warmed up too.

My wife's filet mignon comes...well done...

I'm sorry, but if you are a steak eater, over cooking meat is like pissing into the holy water at church...You just don't do it.

We had them try again, only to leave it charred on the outside and raw on the inside.

Seriously?

You want to mess up a birthday?  Over, then under cook my wife's steak.

My ribs come back nice and hot, but then it hits me...My stomach HURTS...I'm not doubled over, but I'm definitely not feeling good...My sister in law looks at me the same way.  We both are not feeling well and start to get the swallows.  You know that reflex you get when you know you're gonna hurl after a long night of drinking?  It was that bad...

It was my wife's birthday, so we think we should go somewhere else for dessert.

The waitress was nice enough to pick up dessert for us, so we stuck around.  I mean, how bad can you mess up dessert?  After letting us know that they didn't have what we wanted (A brownie sundae), we settled for cheesecake...The cheesecake was lumpy...Something just wasn't right...The waitress let us know that she was sorry that things just weren't going well and that the restaurant's freezer was broken...

THANKS FOR TELLING US AFTER YOU'VE GIVEN US THE CHEESECAKE WHORE!

We pick up the tab and race to Rite-Aid for Pepto-Bismol...

I DIDN'T EVEN FINISH MY RIBS!  If you know me, I ALWAYS finish my food...ALWAYS!

Those commercials are no joke...I was feeling fine in about 20 minutes, but I found myself drinking the stuff every 30-45 minutes to keep things down.

On to Tron.

Tron was a lot better then I had expected.  Absolute light show in 3D...If you were on acid or ecstasy, your brain would probably explode.

Feeling much better and hungry after the movie, we head to TGI Friday's in Thousand Oaks.  We only go for one reason...The brownie obsession...

Not my picture, but thanks google images!

It's my wife's favorite, so being that it's her birthday, I figure we should indulge her, especially after the disaster at Holdren's

We get seated at a booth next to the bar and my wife goes to wash her hands.  I tell the server immediately that it's my wife's birthday and all we came here for was the Brownie Obsession...

Server:  Awww...I'm sorry, we don't have any more brownies...
Me: Seriously?
Server: Seriously...

I told my wife what was going on and even she didn't believe me.

Could this get any better?  TGIF is in the same shopping center as RiteAid, home of my wife's favorite ice cream. She walks over while the gimpy sister in law and I order a three for all...Right after we order food, my wife comes back empty handed...

Me:  You finished that ice cream quick...
Wife: They said they couldn't serve me ice cream because they didn't have someone there to scoop me ice cream.  Apparently, you need to pass a class on scooping ice cream and the only person on shift that is qualified to scoop ice cream will be back in 10 minutes.
Me:  F@#$ing Christ...

I get up and go to RiteAid in the rain and demand ice cream for my wife's birthday.  I made them give me 4 scoops of ice cream in the most angry, dark and tall guy attitude possible.  Seriously?  Not qualified to scoop ice cream mother f@#$ers?  What kind of people does RiteAid hire as to where they cannot figure out how to scoop ice cream?  Is that ice cream mechanism that complicated?

I get back to TGIF with a mound of ice cream and my wife is immediately satiated.  The food that my sister in law and I ordered still hasn't arrived...

Seriously?

I was on serious rampage mode by the time the check came.  It took her 20 minutes to get us water.  I found the manager and asked for the check...

This happens to me and the wife all the time when going out for our birthdays...

List of restaurants that have messed up: (Read my reviews on yelp.com)

Koji's in Hollywood
Fleming's in Woodland Hills X 2!
Cafe 14 in Agoura
Holdren's in Newbury Park

So it's a short list, but I've only been married for a little over a year and a half.  The only place that hasn't given us the shaft is Outback in Thousand Oaks...Seriously...

Holy EFF!!

I was about to hop into the shower until I got a twitter update from a friend of mine that covers MMA events @Erik_Fontanez as press (what a lucky bastard...)  Of course, I had to check it out...

It can't be that good....Wait...Is that guy going off the ca...Seriously?  Freaking SERIOUSLY?  What video game inspired this gigantic kick to drop the WEC lightweight champ Ben Henderson?  Where did Anthony Pettis pull this from?...

Funny story, Mike from BJJ said that something would happen that would be talked about in MMA history because he forgot to DVR the final WEC event... I don't think Mike could have been more right...

In BJJ, I was always told that you won't feel better if you roll with the same guys since they improve as much as you do...I can't wait to get more mat time in next year.

Blah...

Ugh...

I just finished 2 scoops of ice cream from Baskin Robbins...My wife decided to get me the most disgusting flavors she could think of... Egg nog and gingerbread...My stomach hurts.  The donut probably didn't help either...

Watching the newest Terminator with the wife and dog... Why does Christian Bale always try to talk so raspy?  It seems like he's always trying to sound like Batman...

Also something else I noticed...Sam Worthington did an insane amount of movies over the past few years...Terminator, Avatar, Clash of the Titans and whatever else was huge...I just realized that he's the voice to the main character in Black Ops.

Chinese food...It probably didn't help the current situation either...

A lot of things going on...I'll get more into it when things have settled...

Training BJJ tomorrow...Looking forward to my BJJ training days every week...Hopefully next month, I'll be able to train multiple times a week...I have a feeling that training in the morning is going to be much different from training at night...We shall see.

Christmas is coming around the corner...Gifts are still being accepted...ha...

UFC 124

For those of you who don't know, I'm a really big BJJ fan and have been ever since I watched the first UFC.  All the years of having older cousins torment me with their size and wrestling has given me an appreciation for learning to fight on the floor.

I was actually fortunate to finally catch a UFC event on TV live instead of via recording... GSP's boxing looks much better and you can definitely tell where Freddie Roach has had his influence (key word: JAB).  Koscheck's eye, or broken orbital, was almost unbearable to look at by the third round.  Anyways, I found a video breakdown of UFC 124's submissions and the infamous Mr. Wonderful from a few events ago.  I love how excited these guys are about grappling.

Thanks to dstryrsg.com for the heads up.

Christmas is coming soon!  Will try not to add to the cruise and Thanksgiving weight that I've put on, but my mom makes a mean strawberry cheesecake.

Christmas Time...Or Hannukah time...

My wife hooked me up with more digital crack because she knows it makes me happy.  Black Ops was her Hanukkah gift to me... If anyone asks me what I want for Christmas or my birthday, I already know what to say...

Yes...That's a Nikon D5000...A cool 800 bones from Costco (plus tax...YIKES...) includes a standard zoom lens and a telephoto zoom lens.  I'm pretty sure this will handle anything I need to shoot unless my dream of becoming a sports photographer for the Lakers ever comes true.

So if you want to donate to the get ProFatKid a camera for his birthday/Christmas, feel free to contact me for an address to send your cash and checks to...

On a food note, I got the Red Pepper Cheese Curls from Fresh and Easy... Mmmmmmmm...The label on the front says "hot", followed by 3 red peppers...I shook my head, knowing that most of the time people say "hot", I barely get a tingle...

There is quite a bit of fire in this bag...I had to put it down...I didn't even mess with the dog as he sat next to me trying to charm a curl from me...Feeding him one of these things would have been just cruel...

Possibly the most powerful website in the world...

Anxiety + positive energy = excitement...And Chipotle with good guac...

Missed the Ultimate Fighter finale...This season was not all that exciting and the more I watch the show, the more I realize that they're really grooming the finale. Also missed the Strikeforce event...I got to watch Hendo knock Babalu unconscious...I want to know who thought that after all the accumulated damage Babalu has received in his career that it would be okay to have him test his chin and consciousness against a fighter like Hendo...

Anyways, food...

Yesterday, had my first Chipotle burrito in about a year...Man do I miss their massive burritos...I remember at one point eating 2 of these things at once...

I wonder how much influence McDonalds has over this place...I heard they owned the chain.  I used to eat here with #1 at least once a week... Probably not the healthiest thing in the world to eat.

Drafting something up with the wife...Something exciting...I'm pretty sure some people will have an aversion to it, but I think it will be for the better...

Also talked with a friend of a friend...Possibly something even more exciting...We shall see...

Day +2 Chow Mein, Costco surprise, working for/with the wife and 24 hour Del Taco

Chow Ma Main for breakfast...Red Wok is officially evacuated from the fridge...A little bland, but nothing that a little soy sauce didn't fix.

Worked with/for the wife today selling a merchandise to a tea time for one of the local churches.  I was wondering where all the women were since we normally have a ton of people there, but then I realized that Tiger Woods was golfing down the street...HAHAHA...

During the break, the wife and I head down the street to Costco...I have to ask, who had the great idea of making a Carne Asada bake... Good in theory, but definitely not as good as a chicken bake.  I wanted so much more out of it, but something just tasted funky...Not like BO or rotten funky, but something about the carne asada just didn't sit taste right to me...I think it was the guacamole...You shouldn't cook the guac....It's gotta go on top...I think I figured it out right there... So if you're reading this Costco, take the guacamole out of your carne asada bakes...

I've been addicted to Black Ops for the last few days...I just got done running the game for 4 hours straight.  After stepping out of my comfort zone as a flanker, I was able to buy the proper equipment for my more familiar post play/sniper positions...This is probably the only thing I can think of that I enjoy as much as BJJ...It's always fun being mic'd up with my friends and family, shooting people in the face.

Just got done destroying a couple of del Taco chicken burritos... That was it... For me, that's unbelievably healthy. A normal, late night/morning meal consisted of about $25...No soda, but a bottle of water...

Sportscenter...I think I've watched more Sportscenter over the last 30 days considering it was the only thing on TV worth watching on the cruise AND in this hotel...

I need to get my hour of sleep... wink...

BJJ and fast food...Then Cleveland/Miami...AND Tiger Woods in TO.

I got owned today by 4 hard rolling sessions at BJJ... I am out of shape...I hurt...I was the always sore guy when I first started BJJ...Now I'm the "I can't move guy" at the end of class...I want more mat time...

Where does fast food come in?  It shouldn't...When I was doing BJJ every day, I ate on time and never really overindulged because I didn't feel like puking on the mat. My diet affected my performance and I'd like to think of myself as competitive.  I was timing my meals with my training schedule...I was getting ripped (okay, that's an exaggeration...I'm calling myself out...)... I was always well hydrated and flexible.

Five months of real world work and out that goes. Ugh...

Okay, I couldn't help blogging about this, but I really enjoyed the Cleveland/Miami debacle...Man those Cleveland fans are BITTER!...I secretly was hoping that Cleveland would oust the Heat, but I really enjoyed the way that LeBron James DESTROYED the Cavs...

Tiger Woods in TO...As much as I love watching Tiger Woods play golf, I gotta wonder if he's hitting the bars out in this area...There's a lot of his "type" running around this area and he's single now...I mean, he's probably focusing on his golf game this weekend, but at the same time, he was crushing golf when he was out getting play off the course.  It's intriguing to me to think about Tiger Woods picking up on women...Does he throw out a lot of money or is it pure game?  Like I said, intriguing.

I over ate...Salmon, rice and a couple bowls of cereal with vanilla soy...I'm too sore to sleep...

I gave in

blDutch apple pie from Fresh and Easy...2 slices...Conversation with the wife and a 24 hour urine specimen!

Falling asleep early and waking up...early...

I had to fall asleep at 2000 tonight...I was tired...

Now here I am at 2330...

WIDE AWAKE...

Surprisingly not hungry...hmmm...

24 hour urine test, Chinese food in Newbury Park and Fresh and Easy

I love giving my nurses and doctors crap when they try to explain things to me about my health.  Look...I understand the condition I have and the complications that rolls with it.  I also love the way they try to use "layman's" terms to tell me things...

PA: When you wake up, I need you to pee in the toilet...
Me:  ...As opposed to peeing into my bed?

Nothing but downhill from there really...  :)

Found this place called Red Wok where we are temporarily located.  This recent cold weather had me looking for soup.  I bumped my wife's order of wonton soup to a large and ordered a chow ma mein soup bowl.  If I ever make it down there again, I'm going to have to try the beef stew.  I really would like to be educated on the styles of Chinese cooking so that I know what to order when I come across different restaurants.

The way I look at it, the fact that I understand that there are different styles of Chinese cooking puts we way beyond the average person, thinking that egg rolls and sweet & sour chicken are authentic Chinese cuisine.  Not to say that I don't enjoy American Chinese food, I don't point people to Panda Express when they want Chinese food.

I don't know why it bothers me that people ask for teriyaki sauce whenever they eat at some Asian restaurant.  Or put soy sauce on white rice that's not fried.  I'm sure I'm not the only one...In the end, if it goes in the mouth and you like it, just like the cup o' noodles instructions say, "Enjoy!".  However, "tolerance" is not "acceptance" for blind ignorance.

Fresh and Easy...Is it really "fresh" or "easy"...I must say that I enjoy heading in there about an hour before closing so there's a lot less people and I can really read the labels on the Fresh and Easy brand items.  Having my tremendous appetite wrangled in by my modest wallet, I'm always looking to save where I can. All I can say is that I've never been disappointed by anything I've bought from Fresh and Easy...

Well...Now that I think about it, there was this funky, yellow looking mold in a bottle of Louisiana Hot Sauce I bought from there.

But seriously, other than that, that's really it...

I guess it's better than dropping a G a Costco.

Movie Food

What is it about movies that inspire that mass inhalation of popcorn, nachos, candy, hot dogs, ice cream, icee, and soda?  Hot dogs?  Concessions at a movie cost more that 4 star dining now a days. A movie just isn't complete without buying $40 of movie food.  I guess this is my way of saying that I wouldn't mind a box of bottle caps right now.

I'm back?

After failing at video blogging (I just don't have a face for YouTube...Or cleavage...) and all my attempts to break into xanga and yelp's inner circles, here I am blogging again. No more hiding behind anonymous names.  This one will be all me.  Here's to new beginnings...
